The AW18 Story
For Autumn / Winter 2018, Cécile takes us to an alternate reality where the eccentricities of Paris meet the bright lights of New York City.
Leave the guide book at home and tag along as Cécile explores (WO)Manhattan, checking in to the Hotel Stardust, where a presque parisienne fille becomes a native New Yorker.
The collection is a kaleidoscopic trip through the ages, with typographic and illustrative print references unrestricted by decade. Psychedelic, hand drawn 1970’s type shouts No Regrets, More Baguettes; whilst dazzling Broadway light lettering encourages you to Dream on... in rainbow hued vinyl screen prints.
Inspired by an afternoon at the fantastical
Le Pompi-Dude (the Pompidou Centre’s nonchalant stateside twin), injections of colour come through in pop-art florals as all-over prints and embroidered detailing. A Warholian, brightly coloured grid of the Cécile Frenchie is a nod to the artist’s Manhattan legacy on t-shirts and sweat-shirting.
Co-ordinating separates take centre stage in
the ready-to-wear offering for the season. The staple cropped jacket and button-down skirt have been re-constructed in colour-blocked mulberry and black corduroy; while updated rainbow ribbing gives best-selling knits, a-line skirts and track pants a seasonal refresh.
A sleeveless longline shirt dress, a new shape for the season, is constructed in fluid, draping silk and features a large screen printed star on the back – a more feminine continuation of the brand’s signature boyfriend shirting.
Essential Cécile track-suiting gets a luxe new look; a panelled track pant, featuring a ruched waist and cuffs, is constructed with contrast silk inserts and binding detail. Of course, classic Bretons and a cheeky “French (speaking) Tongue” slogan tee ensure Cécile doesn’t get too homesick...
Welcome to the la di da world of Autumn Winter 2018, with love from Paris x
